LOCAL. COMMUNITY. BUILDING at JAAGA, INDIA

Projektpräsentation / Diskussion mit Archana Prasad, Bangalore Indien

in englischer Sprache

Jaaga, based in Bangalore, India,  is an art initiative which seeks to nurture innovative endeavors by providing space, core infrastructure, and a diverse social environment.

It supports artists, hackers, makers and NGOs with a desire to create social or environmental change. Jaaga also offers co-working and mentorship to small tech start-ups. Fellowships and Expert Collaborator opportunities have been enabled to invite creative minds to Jaaga on focused projects.

Additionally a special interest is dedicated to artforms that use digital technology in new ways - from cross-continental real-time poetry readings to installations seeking to manifest the coming Internet consciousness.

Jaaga hosts an Electronics Lab where people work on next generation lighting systems, and a Media Lab that trains people in new media technologies. Dorm facilities and multi-level spaces for screenings, workshops, lectures and performances are provided to the artists.

Through collaborations with visiting artists, architects and technologists, and interacting with its modular steel structure, Jaaga is a space constantly in flux, reacting to the creative inputs of her inhabitants. The building itself is an ever evolving artistic, social, environmental and technical experiment.

Archana Prasad, founder of Jaaga, In this presentation, will give a quick background into her life as an artist and what led her to start Jaaga, an artist run art initiative based in Bangalore, India . She will explain in detail the Jaaga experiment, and how it was conceived and executed. Subsequent the main focus will be on the various programs, activities and outreach that Jaaga has carried out or plans on.

After the presentation there will be an open mic for questions about the project and ways that you can collaborate or participate in this urban art & architecture project based in Bangalore, India.

POETRY ACROSS BORDERS - JAAGA, INDIA

in Kooperation mit arttransponder & wortwedding Berlin

SONNTAG 20. Februar 2011  12 Uhr >>>

VERANSTALUNGSORT: wortwedding, Prinzenallee 59, Berlin.
